Privacy and cookies

Who is responsible
This site belongs to Sara Castronuovo, who is the data controller. For any question or request about privacy, write to [email protected].
What is measured, and with what
The site uses Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics 4, two services of Google Ireland Limited, to understand how many people visit it and which pages they look at.
- Google Tag Manager is the tool that loads Google Analytics. It is loaded from Google’s servers on every visit, so Google receives, as with any file downloaded from the internet, your IP address and browser type. On its own it stores no cookies.
- Google Analytics 4 records, as statistics, the pages viewed, the projects opened, clicks on the contact links (email and LinkedIn), where the visit came from, the type of device and the country. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses.
Google Analytics is switched on only if you click “Accept” in the banner. If you reject, or do not answer, no measurement cookie is stored.
The data collected by Google Analytics is kept for 14 months and then deleted. Google may also process it outside the European Union, in the United States: Google takes part in the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, under which the European Union recognises these transfers as adequately protected. How Google handles data is explained in Google’s privacy policy.
Cookies and data stored in your browser
| Name | What it is for | How long it lasts | Needs consent? |
|---|---|---|---|
theme | Remembers whether you chose the light or dark theme | Until you delete it | No: it is a preference you chose |
cookie-consent | Remembers your answer to the banner, so you are not asked again | Until you delete it | No: it is what keeps your choice respected |
_ga, _ga_… | Google Analytics cookies: they tell one visit from another | Up to 2 years | Yes: stored only if you accept |
The first two are not cookies strictly speaking: they are kept in your browser and are never sent to anyone.
How to change your mind
At the bottom of every page there is “Cookie preferences”: it reopens the banner, and you can change your choice whenever you like. If you withdraw consent, the Google Analytics cookies are deleted from your browser.
On what basis
Google Analytics data is processed only with your consent (Article 6(1)(a) of the EU General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679, the GDPR). You can withdraw it at any time, and doing so does not affect what was collected before.
Your rights
You can ask to see the data that concerns you, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict its use, to object to its processing, or to receive it in a readable format, by writing to [email protected]. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Italian data protection authority, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali.
Where the site is hosted
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, by Cloudflare, Inc. Like any service that publishes websites, Cloudflare receives the IP address of whoever visits the pages, in order to send them.
